Peter Exton - Manager, Probity

Background - Peter is a highly experienced Probity Advisor, having served within the NSW public sector in a range of senior project management, procurement and review roles including as General Manager – Procurement Management at the Department of Commerce (now Department of Finance and Services). Upon leaving the public sector, Peter was recruited by Deloitte to join its Probity Services team. Peter was with Deloitte for 4 years, during which time he was solely responsible for undertaking probity audits. Peter joined the Procure team upon inception in 2005.

Peter’s specific probity experience includes being the engagement Director undertaking Probity Audits for the Transport Construction Authority (TCA) (now Transport Projects Directorate). This included the audit of procurements for the Chatswood to Epping Railway and the $1 billion Rail Clearways project. For TCA, Peter completed in excess of 25 probity audits including a $400m station upgrade and the Chatswood Transport Interchange PPP.

Apart from these engagements, Peter has been responsible for completing all field work and report writing for over 100 probity review processes. Due to Peter’s deep experience and sensible approach to problem solving, he is typically allocated difficult and politically sensitive engagements. Peter enjoys this challenge.

Recent experience

  • Lead probity advisor for local government waste services tenders including Canada Bay Council, Parramatta City Council, Port Macquarie Council, Warringah Council, Canterbury Council and Leichardt Council.
  • Lead probity advisor for various procurements with Wollongong University including cleaning services, laptops, learning management system, lecture capture system, sciences teaching facility, student accommodation expansion, telecommunications and WAN services
  • Lead probity advisor for 25 individual procurements as part of the Epping Chatswood Rail Link and Clearways program
  • Lead probity advisor for major upgrades of the Pacific Highway and Princes Highway with Roads and Maritime Services
